Simple steps to import and export

Starting a business or starting a company may seem very difficult, but in reality the opportunities to do something are becoming more accessible every day. Today we tell you some simple steps to import and export products, so you can start your own entrepreneurial business in Peru.

What steps should I follow to successfully import from anywhere in the world?

1.- First you must know what product you want to import. We recommend you to carry out a good market study and find a niche in which your product satisfies a need.

2.- Enter the web pages that will allow you to import your product. For this, you will have to contact the seller and reach good agreements.

3.- Once you have made the deal with the supplier, you will have to provide all the necessary information to send the product or merchandise to Peru.

4.- The arrival of your product will depend on the way you choose to transport it, if it is by sea it can take from 1 to 3 months, in the case of by air it will be in a matter of days or weeks.

5.- Once the product has arrived, it will pass through Customs, which will be in charge of controlling foreign trade operations, with the aim of registering the international traffic of goods that are imported and exported from a foreign country and collecting the taxes established by law.

6.- If the cost of the product is less than 200 dollars, you will not have to pay any tax, if it is more than the mentioned amount, you will have to go to any bank agency and make the payment indicated to you.

7.- Once you have completed all these steps, you can go to the national postal service to pick up your goods.

Now let's move on to exporting...

What steps must I follow to be able to export successfully to any part of the world?

1.- You must have a company constituted with RUC, which allows you to issue invoices, bills, etc.

2.- You must carry out an international market study to determine the sales opportunities for your product abroad.

3.- Analyse the characteristics of your product to be exported, to determine if it has the necessary requirements for its commercialisation abroad.

4.- Promote the product offered by participating in international fairs, websites and events related to your product.

5.- Make contact with your potential client in the country where your product will arrive, who will be your strategic ally for the commercialisation in the country.

6.- Deliver all the shipping documents to the customs agency so that the customs agency can process them with SUNAT.

7.- Once all the documents have been approved, you must deliver them to your importer, client or contact in that country.

8.- Always remember to provide an after-sales service that allows you to follow up on the product and guarantee your customer the technical assistance they require.
